Meet a Member – Steven Bacon
Business Development Manager, Aggreko

Steven Bacon headshotSteven works as Business Development Manager for Data Center Commissioning at Aggreko in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, a position he began earlier this year. In his role, Steven helps guide Aggreko’s efforts to support data centers in the United States and brings expertise to the data center commissioning team, ensuring that it is well-prepared to help centers for their critical commissioning and testing needs.

As someone who’s led teams for several years, Steven is passionate about providing people with the tools they need to succeed, and in a way that uplifts them. Team management requires a high level of trust between the team and their leader, and building this trust is an essential part of Steven’s outlook. His deep and varied career, which ranges from tech and event management to motorsports and energy, has given him the expertise to mentor others on best work practices as well as turn them into subject matter experts of their own.

Steven lends unmatched expertise to the Data Center commissioning team at Aggreko North America and is helping turn the storied energy solutions company into a one-stop-shop for data centers’ commissioning and testing needs.

An Impressive and Diverse Journey to Data Centers
Steven’s role as a valued commissioning subject matter expert comes from the somewhat unorthodox way he joined Aggreko. Steven transitioned to Aggreko after his previous employer, Crestchic, which specialized in load banking services, became a wholly owned subsidiary of Aggreko. While at Crestchic, Steven continued an impressive career building his knowledge on energy solutions and determining the best ways to evaluate the commissioning and testing needs of critical infrastructure.

Steven’s time at both Aggreko and Crestchic built on a nearly two-decade career in business development and project management in a variety of intriguing fields, turning Steven into a true jack-of-all-trades subject matter expert. He began his career from where he grew up in upstate New York with IBM and proceeded to spend over twelve years rising through the ranks in the sales channels to become an expert in devising software-based solutions. Steven’s position at IBM eventually took him to Texas, where he leveraged his background in tech sales into excelling in a new field with The Freeman Company, event management. After several years, Steven transitioned to Tucker Powersports, where he continued to show his aptitude for excelling in new areas while applying his tech background in managing e-commerce sales.

In 2019, Steven shifted his career to the energy industry, where he’s remained since then. Before joining Crestchic in 2021, he directed sales at Clifford Power Systems, where he oversaw a team managing contracts related to commercial generators. Adding temporary power solutions to his growing list of proficient subjects, Steven applied his team management skills and sales background to become well-acquainted with the sort of work he’s now doing at Aggreko.

A People Person and Family Man
As Steven approaches the twenty-year mark of his career, his colleagues at Aggreko know him as a friendly, personable expert on the needs of data center commissioning. He’s enjoying his time sharing his know-how with Aggreko’s U.S. data center team and mentoring the sales team, and continues to grow his industry expertise, now learning more about liquid cooling for data centers as their cooling needs grow.

In his free time, Steven enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, as well as engaging with his faith.
