Prior to joining Grubb & Ellis Management Services, Inc. (GEMS), Mr. Holmes was the Director of Construction for the US Capitol complex where he managed over $40,000,000 in construction projects per year. Projects were located in all portions of the 18 million-sqft complex and included the Supreme Court and Library of Congress. Projects included historical restorations such as the Phase one restoration of the Dome of the Capitol, renovations of major buildings such as the renovation of the Russell Senate office building and new construction projects such as the new Senate Library and the addition of six elevators and tower to the Longworth House office building. Mr. Holmes supervised 30 professional construction managers, engineers and staff, over 200 government construction workers and 1 myriad of construction contractors. He also served as the first Capitol Facilities Manager where he was responsible for supervising the five maintenance jurisdictions in the Capitol Complex, which employed over 1500 staff and were responsible for maintenance and operation of the facility. Prior to this, Mr. Holmes served as a Commander in the Civil Engineer Corps of the US Navy, where he held various assignments of increasing responsibility in facilities management and construction. Included were several tours as the Head of Facility Management at Naval Complexes or for several Washington headquarters where he was responsible for several Naval complexes worldwide. His prior positions included managing the construction of the Naval Maritime Intelligence, (NMIC) a 935,000 sqft computer data center located on 40 acres in Suitland MD,
