Allen has over thirty year's technical experience in the battery and back-up power industry. He has been deeply involved with UPS and DC power system design, integration, installation, maintenance, and testing. Prior to his present position, Allen was a Senior Staff Applications Engineer with American Power Conversion, Corp., the North American Technical Director for Advance Power, Inc. and a founder and executive vice president of System Engineering International, Corp.
Allen is widely recognized in the battery and power systems industry and has been an invited speaker at several national and international power system related conferences and events and has had numerous articles and technical papers published.
Allen is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the IEEE Power Engineering Society and is very active with the Society's Stationary Battery Committee which writes national battery standards and guides published by the IEEE and ANSI. He is the original author of the Power Distribution Chapter of the Building Industry Consulting Service International's (BICSI) Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual. He was also, for many years, a Contributing Editor for Power Quality Assurance Magazine. For the past nine years Allen has been the Chairman and Co-Moderator of Battcon, the National Battery Conference. In 2005, Allen was nominated by his peers as the Battery Industry Person of the Year.
