On November 10, the 7×24 Exchange International Women In Mission Critical Operations Committee held its second WiMCO® WAM event designed to align WiMCO® communities within chapters and continue its effort to increase engagement and participation of women in the mission critical industry.
7×24 Exchange International WiMCO Committee Member and Marketing Director at Sure Power, Janine Repine, set the stage by welcoming participants, reviewing the history of WiMCO, and committee goals. Janine shared some tips on how to introduce WiMCO to a chapter and some simple strategies to get a Chapter WiMCO community started and off the ground including best practices. She highlighted WiMCO benefits such as increasing chapter membership, networking opportunities and educational topics of interest to both men and women. Lillian Rivera, National WiMCO Committee member and Director of Marketing at Bureau Veritas Primary Integration, shared the Greater Washington DC chapters recent events including Wake Up with WiMCO and events on diversity and integrating the different communications styles of men and women in the workplace.
Randomly divided concurrent breakout sessions set the stage for brainstorming and formation of ideas for increasing the number of women in the industry. Participants remained engaged in the discussion and the WiMCO® National Committee plans to continue the dialogue at spring and fall conferences.
